 Garden

Casa Estudio Caracol is situated in a 4,400 m2 garden, composed of different parts each displaying their own charm. In addition to our round house, the apartments and the workshop, we have a vegetable garden and many fruit trees, as well as an area with different kinds of cactus.

In between the buildings there is a terrace in the shape of an ellipse, with a small fountain that invites you to sit and listen to the soft noise of water while watching the birds bathe. In another part of the garden you can meditate under the tree looking at the active volcano, which is sometimes smoking.

In the front garden you can admire several different species of cactus and there is plenty of space for you to walk, work out or practice yoga.

We have a view of the volcanoes Popocatépetl (active), Iztaccíhuatl and Malinche (extinct). From the garden you can also see the church of the Virgen de los Remedios that is built on top of the big pyramid of Cholula.

Ecology is very important to us, so we reuse soap water and have two big rainwater deposits. We do not use commercial chemicals, so birds, butterflies and animals abound as they like the ecological environment.

Hosts

The hosts are Madeleine Bondy, filmmaker, ecologist and craftswoman and Isidro Morales, political scientist, university professor and a devoted fan of philosophy and history.

We love to share our small paradise with guests who appreciate beauty and calm as well as a nice glass of wine and animated talks if the time allows it. We will also assist you with practical, cultural or tourist information if you want it.

Surroundings

San Andrés Cholula and the neighboring town San Pedro Cholula were religious centers and the most important settlements in the region, long before the construction of the City of Puebla in the 16th century.

San Andrés and San Pedro are today villages where tradition and modernity coexist with small restaurants and cafes and a vibrant artistic life. Fortunately, Casa Estudio Caracol is located on the outskirts of these activities so you can enjoy calm and silence at only 10 minutes of walk from the town center.

Puebla

Puebla is located 120 km south-east from Mexico City, on the high plateau, 2250 m above sea level.

Puebla is a big modern city (3 million inhabitants) with all the necessary services.

The center of the city has beautiful colonial architecture and a lively everyday life as well as many interesting historical sites, not to mention an abundance of colonial churches.

On the outskirts there are modern commercial areas and excellent universities. Further away you find big industrial areas that host automobile and textile companies.

Puebla is listed by UNESCO as a cultural heritage site of humanity and both Cholulas have been appointed Magical Towns.
